Bangalore is known as the Garden City of India and has two nationally recognized botanical Gardens – Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park, which attract a lot of visitors through the year. The city was the recipient of the Indira Priyadarshini Vruksha Mitra award in the late 1980s, in recognition of its extensive green cover. Many efforts are also made to make the gardens more and more beautiful and eco-friendly. Some of the gardens have also banned the use of fertilizers and pesticides.

  • Cubbon Park: Cubbon Park is home to someof the very rare varieties of exotic plants. You can find as many as 6000 various varieties of plants and trees in this park. Besides the park also houses few very famous and significant architectural monuments. These include the Attara Kacheri,  Sheshadri Iyer Memorial Home and State Archeological Museum. Besides there also is a toy train, a doll museum and boating facility for the amusement purposes of the visitors and kids.

  • Lalbagh: The Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore is of royal origin and was started initially as a private garden in an area of 40 acres by Hyder Ali, one of the most famous rulers of old Mysore in 1760. Initially designed in Mughal style, this garden was further developed by Hyder Ali’s son Tipu Sultan and subsequently by the British and Indian doyens of horticulture by extension of area and addition of a number of plant species. Lalbagh is currently under the aegis of the Directorate of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka. Today it has been an internationally renowned center for scientific study of plants and botanical artwork and also conservation of many rare plants. This garden is located very near to Jayanagar. Jayanagar is a residential and commercial area of Bangalore city. This area is well connected by all the means of transportation. Hotels in Jayanagar are available to stay.
